What is the LRS?

The Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) is a set of policies defined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that governs the remittance of money from India. According to the LRS guidelines, each individual can send a maximum of $250,000 (~ ₹1.75 crores) per year aboard without requiring any explicit RBI approval. This makes it easier for you to send money abroad for investing in the US. For the most up to date regulations regarding the LRS please visit the RBI website (https://www.rbi.org.in).
